6 Months Old

Graham cracker is 6 months old! How fun to watch him change and grow in these pictures.

He turned 6 months on September 10. I think each time I've posted his monthly photos, I've included a few more pictures than the last time. Well, the 6 month milestone is no different and we might overshare to a whole new level. Hard to resist when he gets cuter and more interactive with every month.

So here we go....

Started out with our typical fabric shots on the floor.

Then we switched it up to show off our impressive new skill ... sitting up!

Dad helped with the entertainment to elicit smiles in this shoot. I love this one of him looking at dad (even if you can't see it).

Dad wasn't always enough though, so we played with our toys a little bit too.

"Millie, no! This is my time!"

All is calm again.

My absolute favorite.

 Fabric summary to date.

And I admit I've made this monthly photo thing more difficult than it needs to be with the quilt and chair pics too. But darn it, we've made it this far so we're going to keep going....

Just a quick reality check...

The next three might look exactly the same to you. But as his mom, I see three distinct stages of his smile that are worth saving and sharing.

And let's not forget to document his achievements to date:

  • Sitting up: This is the big one and is the most exciting. He officially survived sitting up without our assistance on September 1 and has been enjoying his new perspective ever since.
  • Rolled over in crib while swaddled. He now gets just his torso wrapped.
  • Likes to kick and splash in the tub.
  • Hit a turning point in sleeping. Had been waking up several times per night for about a month and a half. At the end of August we let him "cry it out." He was done and sleeping in 14 minutes. A long 14 minutes, but he's been great ever since. We wish we tried it sooner...
  • We've moved bedtime up to 7:30 (was previously 8:00). He's sleeping better with this schedule too.
  • First solids: We did our first spoonful of oatmeal on Sept. 11 (I guess that's technically into his 7th month). He seems to like it and opens wide when he sees the spoon coming.
  • 6 month doctor appointment: 18 lbs. (62nd percentile); 26 in. (40th percentile). He did really well with shots. Only cried at the poke and recovered much more quickly than previous shots which was way better for mom and dad.  I think I managed to stay dry-eyed this time!

Love this little rascal. More than words or pictures could ever capture.
