7 Months Old

On October 10, Graham turned 7 months old!

He didn't disappoint in the photo shoot department. Here are a few (I'm redefining the quantity that "few" describes) of my favorites.

This whole outstretched leg while sitting was new...

I like to shake my new rattle.

Hi Dad!

Those eyes ... he's just so perfect and innocent.

Moving on to the wedding quilt shots.

And wrapping up with a chair pic.

 Hey, that's my name!

Milestones at the 7 month mark are:
  • First vegetables - he had sweet potatoes on September 26. Those and carrots seem to be his favorites so far.
  • Sleeping has regressed again. He had a bit of a cold (later officially diagnosed as bronchialitis) starting around September 22 and lasting for over a month which definitely affected his sleep. He has been up between 1 and 4 times a night for most of September and October. As much as it's of course difficult to get up in the middle of the night, I try to focus on the positives of extra snuggles with my main squeeze. While I groggily stumble to his room in the middle of the night, I'm always somehow kind of excited. Ok, excited might be a stretch. But always happy to get to comfort him when I enter the room. And boy do I appreciate that we invested in a nursery chair that reclines. Before Graham, I didn't think I could sleep in chairs. Turns out I was wrong.
  • Graduated from his soothie pacifiers from the hospital and now uses big boy Nuk pacis. He likes to play with the handle and take it out of his mouth to look at it now. Not quite capable of putting it back in correctly.
  • Spits up MUCH less than before. It's pretty much a non-issue at this point which is a welcomed change.
  • Slept with a loose blanket for the first time. I am such a chicken that it took me this long to allow it. He does just fine...
  • First stroller ride without the car seat.
  • Started eating solids at daycare - not just at home.
  • Started eating "puffs" at daycare. I still haven't given them at home. I need to take the baby CPR class before offering him anything remotely solid. See chicken note above...
  • Started going to bed earlier. Bedtime is about 7:30 now.
  • Started swaddling arms again. Graham has experimented with rolling onto his tummy and side and after a few nights of that between 5 and 6 months, he has settled back to his back and prefers it. We started swaddling the arms again - a call we made at 3 a.m. (when all good decisions are made) when he'd woken himself up multiple times. It seems to help a little and keep him comfortable. If only I could say it was the magic ticket to perfect sleep. Ha!
  • First plane ride! On October 10 we flew to Phoenix for Uncle Derek and Aunt Tina's wedding. Stay tuned for details on the trip!

Our Little Pumpkin

In late September we took young Graham to the Fall Festival at "Reault Farm" across the street from our house.

It wouldn't be fall without pumpkins. And it wouldn't be a Bergill Baby blog post without 78 pictures I couldn't choose between.  Hang on tight.

 This looks interesting...

Wait, no, I don't like the stems.

We met up with our friend Declan and naturally had to get a few snaps of the boys together.

The boys weren't real interested in the camera and were more fascinated with the new texture of straw. Which was fine...

Until we tipped over and ate some of it.

We recovered for a family shot.

And checked out the goats.

Next year we'll chase him around as he takes in all the fun activities for kids. All we have to do is blink and that will be here.

Multiple Milestones

Oh hi! Graham has been busy achieving new and exciting milestones. Until one of them includes keeping up on his own baby blog, we're going to get a little behind from time to time. :)

First Solids: September 11, 2013. He had runny oatmeal and thought it was great. I hope the video plays. If not, then I guess you're spared me sing songing "that's different!" 14 times while spooning the soupy oatmeal into his mouth.

Just trust me when I say - he liked it.

First Bison Game: On September 7, Graham and I ventured to the home opener Bison football game with friends Jamie and Krew. Krew and Graham go to daycare together and enjoyed getting to hang out on a Saturday. The indoor game was LOUD and we had a few minor freak-outs which were totally justified. It would be nice if the Bison didn't score so often since cannons fire each time they do. But just when we were about to leave and get home to the quiet he fell asleep in my arms.

First stroller ride without the car seat: On September 24 we ventured out as a big boy in the stroller. I think he enjoyed the new perspective!

First car: Grandpa and Jan came to visit Graham on September 23. And it wouldn't be a visit from grandparents if there wasn't some unnecessary spoiling going on. Graham got his first car! It doesn't move very fast (at all) but he sure enjoys putting his new sitting up skills to use in this baby.

Grandpa showing him how to go fast.

I hope this focus continues when he drives for real. Safety first!

Graham says THANKS! for the fun, new toy.

First sweet potatoes: On September 26 Graham enjoyed his first vegetable. Sweet potatoes from mama's oven.

These seem to be his favorite overall. We've since also tried carrots, green beans, avocados and squash -- all homemade -- which is oh so easy (and cheap) with the help of our little Ninja blender.

We've also transitioned to "big boy" pacifiers, are allowed to sleep with a loose blanket, we eat cereal, vegetables from home and "puffs" at daycare, drink water from a sippy cup and had our first plane ride. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Here are a few other snaps from September.

When it started to get chilly, mom busted out my zip-ups.

Dad got home just in time to play a little before bedtime.

We played with Leif and Mindy.

The toy basket has arrived.

Leif's hair is so cool. I want to play with it please.

We napped on a big boy bed while at Trevor and Katie's

 Falling asleep with mom.

 Sometimes I suck my thumb.

Playing with my friends Peyton and Declan at breastfeeding class/group.

 Big boy.

And here's my new wall art at work. This is the 3 to 6 month version and I absolutely love peeking at all his expressions throughout the day.
